Keycard

Variant Short-range RFID

The keycards used in the Harland Broadcasting Corporation building also double as identification cards, listing the owner's department and clearance on the front, with a magnetic strip on the back, and an RFID chip embedded inside. The RFID card allows doors to be unlocked at close range, while the antiquated magnetic strip acts as a secondary failsafe, as well as a potential mechanism to unlock secure containers and doors that mere proximity should not open.
